WALLPAPER

Be inspired by a pattern explosion that’s making a splash in our bathrooms

Wallpaper continues to weave its magic through our homes, but this year things are dialing up a notch, with bold patterned designs stealing into the wettest parts of our bathrooms. Previously a limited option best kept well away from water, the advent of new materials and printing techniques is seeing the glory of wallpaper patterns translated on more robust surfaces.

The secret to achieving an authentic wallpaper feel, rather than on patterned tiles, is to avoid grout lines and conceal connections. Wall&decò’s Wet System wallpaper, available from West One Bathrooms, is the closest thing to the real deal that we’ve come across. It can be completely sealed against water ingress, making it safe for use inside a shower.

Alternatively, go for large-format ceramic or porcelain panels – the bigger the better – that have been digitally printed with pattern to give the look of wallpaper. This beautiful new launch by Devon&devon (pictured) is a particularly fine example.

Decor Slabs porcelain wall covering in Painted Blue, from £661sq m; shower rose in chrome, £899; and thermostatic shower mixer in chrome, £1,691, all Devon&devon
