PLACES TO GO, THINGS TO SEE...
discover
WHAT... Hot Pink Turquoise.
WHERE... The South London Gallery in Camberwell.
WHY... Belgian artist Ann Veronica Janssens’ first major exhibition in London, running until 29 November, is set to be an immersive treat. The main event will change half way through the show; first will be Ann’s explosive Untitled (Blue Glitter), followed by Bikes, which will see visitors invited to cycle around the gallery on custom mirrored bicycles.
visit
WHAT... The new garden at The Hepworth.
WHERE... Wakefield in West Yorkshire. WHY... This beautiful new community garden has been expertly assembled by acclaimed landscape architect Tom Stuart-smith. Channelling the designer’s signature blend of modernity and naturalism, the freeto-visit garden places sculptures by figures such as Michael Craigmartin and Barbara Hepworth among sleek, contemporary planting.
eat
WHAT... Italian restaurant Tavolino.
WHERE... Right by the river at London Bridge.
WHY... Restaurateurs haven’t had the best year, particularly those daring to open new ventures in the current climate. Nevertheless, Tavolino is managing to build a solid reputation as a top-notch neighbourhood Italian. The eatery comes courtesy of Louis Korovilas, formerly head chef of trendy pasta joint Bancone, who is dazzling us all over again with dishes such as red prawn bucatini and parmesan bombolini.
