I worked as a natural history illustrator after graduating with a degree in scientific and natural history illustration from Middlesex University.

Describe your style

I seek out moments in my urban life where evolving abstract beauty, deconstruction and decay collide. I mix these with enlarged natural forms – currently, I’m interested in the beauty, symmetry and patterns in butterflies.

What’s the process?

I’ll source a specimen to work from and do a digital sketch. I use traditional painting techniques but instead of paint and brushes I use digital tools by means of computer software and a graphics tablet and stylus. I then hand-finish each of my prints to enhance the depth and colour.

Career highlight?

Being accepted into the Royal Academy’s Summer Exhibition 2012 helped my career as an artist take off.

Display advice?

I saw my work on dark walls earlier this year at the Runway Gallery installation at Blacks Club, Soho, and thought they really complemented the art.
