HOTEL HOT LIST
The stylish retreats that are lighting up our design radar
When it comes to ski hotels, this ambitious project in Wyoming’s exclusive Jackson Hole resort is up there with the very best. Taking the golden age of Alpine skiing as its inspiration and raison d’être, Caldera House offers sumptuous, beautifully worked interiors – mostly by La-based Commune Design – that reference the high glamour of 70s decor. You’ll find roaring wood fires, an autumnal palette and lots of leather and shaggy boucle, but despite this there’s no hint of rough and ready log-cabin style as everything is done with the lightest of touches. After a day on the slopes, head down to the much-storied Old Yellowstone Garage restaurant, relocated here from another spot in the valley, for superb modern fare with an Italian flair.
