There’s one interiors shape that’s dominated the last few years – the arch. Painted onto walls or incorporated into furniture, for 2022, we’re moving forward. The form of the year admittedly is still arch-shaped, but now it’s stepped into the threedimensional world. Archways are to be found forming doorways, alcoves, walkways et al, and are set to be especially prevalent in the bathroom (you’ll find a bath nestles under one rather nicely). ‘Arches have been becoming prevalent in the world of architecture and design in recent years as we are increasingly drawn to free-flowing, organic and rounded shapes,’ says Lee Thornley, founder of Bert & May. ‘The graceful archway is a classical shape that we are all very familiar with, but it can feel incredibly modern at the same time. It works particularly well in the bathroom with soft, gentle lines that evoke a feeling of calm, ideal for creating a sanctuary at home.’
