MAXIMALIST OR MINIMALIST?

I’m a minimalist. I don’t like a lot of clutter. I like things that express who people are and I like to spend money on things I really love, but you need to let them breathe so you can appreciate them.

EVERY HOME MUST HAVE A…

…comfortable sofa.

FAVOURITE ARCHITECT?

Craig Ellwood – he’s Californian mid-century. I love his work.

GO-TO FURNITURE SOURCE?

The person I start with to source something vintage that’s unique is Israel at The Swanky Abode out in Ohio. He always has beautiful pieces. He also has the licence for some remake furniture and he’s reintroducing classic American designs. I like that we are now celebrating American designers.

A MATERIAL YOU RETURN TO?

We use a lot of white oak, whether it’s for flooring, cabinetry or in custom furniture. The grain quality is beautiful.

YOUR DESIGN SIGNATURE?

We like to have pieces that are fully custom in a project – it’s unique and memorable. There are lots of great makers out there, so plenty of opportunity to create something original.

PLACE TO SEEK OUT IN NYC?

Olde Good Things – it has all these beautiful vintage and period pieces, as well as odd collections of things.
