Time for a better night
FOUR OUT OF TEN OF US ARE SLEEP DEPRIVED – BEDROOM BRAND AND SO TO BED IS HERE TO HELP
There are many factors that affect whether are not we get a good night’s rest, but a great starting point for sweet dreams is having the right bed. And So To Bed knows we all have different sleeping needs, so each of its luxury handmade designs has customisable options for true individuality. There is a mattress for everyone, too – from Vispring options made from only natural materials to deliver cool comfort to the Pure Luxe Hybrid mattress with HEIQ Viroblock™ technology which provides antimicrobial protection against microbes and germs.
Dr Lindsay Browning, psychologist, neuroscientist and sleep expert for And So To Bed points out that ‘a well-thought bedroom will help you to sleep well and feel calm and happy every day.’ Storage is key to bedroom bliss and the Emilia Ottoman bed has that sorted.
‘It lifts to reveal storage space as big as the bed,’ says Lindsay. Style is important, too, so there is a huge range on offer – from the glam Rococo-look Louis XV caned bed and elegant Richmond (above) to the contemporary Boston bed which is designed to look as if it’s floating.
Dr Lindsay Browning’s sleep time tips
1. Keeping a regular wake and bedtime seven days per week will aid better sleep as it assists your body to develop a robust circadian rhythm, which helps you to fall asleep at the right time at night.
2. Stop your caffeine intake at 2pm as caffeine has an average half life of five to seven hours. That means that five to seven hours after your cup of coffee, half of the caffeine is still in your system.
3. A recent study found that one in five of us are kept awake by our phones (the blue light tricks us to thinking it’s daytime), so make sure that you switch off your electronic devices an hour before bed.
4. If you can’t sleep, it’s much better to get out of bed and do something else or read another chapter of your book – the longer you lie in bed trying to sleep the more anxious you are likely to become.
