This thick-weave jute braided rug from flooring emporium Emily’s House, shown here with a Romo wallcovering, is so perfect for a space that lacks texture and character. Pair it with marble, leather and bouclé for an elegant look or lay it on terracotta floor and team with rustic ceramics for a more relaxed feel.

HIGH HOPES

Happily, furniture is something I can get my teeth into as we wait for the planning consent. Used previously in my client projects as an interior designer, this old favourite upholstered bar stool by Rose Uniacke is the front runner for when my new kitchen exists.
