Borgo Santandrea, Italy
IN A SENTENCE
Two local Amalfi families have painstakingly restored a 1960s hotel built into the rocks into a design marvel that is achingly chic.
DESIGN HIGHLIGHT
Think blue and white tiles (31 different types), mid-century design classics and floor-to-ceiling windows that bathe rooms in light – the interiors are inspired by Gio Ponti’s work at the Parco dei Principi in Sorrento. All rooms have balconies and sea views.
IF YOU DO ONE THING
Sundowners and supper (the fritto misto) at beach club Al Borgo.
IN THE NEIGHBOURHOOD
Although it’s just a few miles from the tourist hotspots it feels a world away. The hotel has a private beach and the sleepy fishing village of Conca dei Marini remains a wonderful reminder of what this whole coast was once like – charming.
GOOD TO KNOW
The hotel is only open for children over eight, and in any case this is more of an adult vibe.
