RAW FINISHES
This side and rear extension was designed with internal finishes inspired by colours and materials from the owners’ favourite holiday destinations – Provence, Morocco, New York and the Spanish islands. ‘Steel and timber beams make a striking feature of the ceiling, complemented by concrete flooring, raw oiled timber cabinets and brushed copper surfaces,’ says architect Oliver Leech. The natural materials have been sealed rather than painted over, allowing the innate aesthetic qualities of the plaster, steel and copper to age gracefully over time. ‘The light tones of the Douglas fir fins and clay render ensure the timber and copper kitchen island takes centre stage,’ he adds.
