A harmonious palette of hues doesn’t have to be vivid or flashy to stand out, as this extension by DEDRAFT demonstrates. ‘Rather than bold, glossy colours we opted for more muted, calmer shades that blend with one another,’ says Grant Straghan, director of the practice. Key accent colours, including the green encaustic cement tiles and the Terra fibre-concrete loft cladding, were chosen to reflect hues seen in nature. ‘The green is dominant, with the oak doors providing a further nod to the natural tones that complement the existing context and traditional aesthetic.’
