‘Our clients wanted to introduce strong colours, but each space had a very different function’

The unusual colour pairing of Farrow & Ball’s India Yellow with

Green Smoke gives this kitchen-diner extension, by MW Architects, oodles of wow factor. The blocks of colour chosen for the kitchen joinery were deliberately selected as a complement to the vivid blue panels of cladding on the extension’s exterior. ‘Our clients wanted to introduce strong colours, but each space had very different parameters in terms of form, function and the availability of natural light,’ says Melissa Robinson, a director at the practice. ‘We carried out a long and explorative process looking at a number of panels to make sure we got the colour pairing right.’
