JOYFUL SCHEMES
Joy comes in many forms, but in a decor it truly shines with a confident use of bright palettes and patterns on walls. As winter approaches and the days get darker, embrace uplifting hues of hot coral, aqua green and lemon yellow. Pack in patterns with strong lines, such as a chevron or stripe, which work wonderfully with modern linear furniture.
Louis Barthélemy’s fabulous collection for Pierre Frey features Les Poissons du Nil (right), £164m, which represents the Nile. As a Barthélemy, it’s ‘a modern and timeless graphic design; the water lilies and fish evolve in acidulous colours within the geometric waves’. Further down the line, Omexco’s Atelier AT91 (left), £120lin m, is a modern interpretation of a woven ikat fabric, which can be hung on walls either horizontally or vertically. Its ombré stripes are reminiscent of the colour test strip on a printed image, and its pure pop shades are counterbalanced with deep black.
