Hotel de Len, Cortina, Italy
IN A SENTENCE
Just about to open for its first season, Hotel de Len looks set to becomes this region’s hottest new spot.
BEHIND THE CONCEPT
This is the first project in the mountains for Aldo Melpignano, owner of the stunning Borgo Egnazia in Puglia. Architectural firm Gris+dainese took on the renovation of the hotel, placing a focus on sustainability and well-being. The modern rooms are mainly decorated with pine, known for improving sleep quality, and old fir for its patina, which is thought to be balancing.
DESIGN HIGHLIGHT
The top-floor spa that overlooks the mountains and the valley. At night, the starscape views are said to be rather special.
IN THE NEIGHBOURHOOD
A 10-seater gondola that connects two of Cortina’s three ski areas has just opened, meaning that skiers can now access the Sella Ronda circuit without having to go by road. In short? Cortina is now connected with around 1,200km of slopes – fantastico!
