Brexit continues to breed uncertainty. The UK Chancellor Philip Hammond has announced the autumn budget, which will be the last UK budget before Brexit, but has also said an emergency budget would be necessary if there is no deal on Britain’s exit from the EU. Support has grown for there to be a ‘people’s vote’ on the deal with 700,000 people marching in London in October and the Mayor of London Sadiq Khan backing the idea. In the meantime, many British people living in France have taken the step to seek French nationality, with 1,370 people applying for citizenship in the first six months of 2018. This is a vast increase when compared to only 386 Britons applying for citizenship in 2015, before the EU Referendum.
