Weight lost and colour returns

Dad’s remarkable transformation

- Lee MacGregor

A 47-YEAR-OLD man’s hair went from white to its natural colour after he lost seven-and-a-half stone.

Brian Mcauley, from Llangennech, initially joined Slimming World to support his daughter in her weight-loss drive, but was soon hooked and has changed his life for the better.

He has slimmed down from 24st 4.5lb to 16st 11lb.

He says his hair, which grew back white and thin after losing it through alopecia, is now as thick as ever and back to its natural colour.

Mr Mcauley has also seen his “extremely high” blood pressure come down, and his long-term

problem with fluid in his inner ear drum has cleared.

“I joined Slimming World at the end of June 2017 after years of piling on weight,” he said. “Initially I joined to support my daughter to lose some weight but I now think it was the other way round and it was her that joined to support me. So armed with all my Slimming World literature, I went home and read through all my books and I took to it like a duck to water.”

Mr Mcauley said he supplemented his diet with more exercise.

“Before I knew it the weight started dropping off and in no time I started following the Body Magic programme, just walking a mile at a time and soon built it up and now enjoy regular walks of 10 miles or more, along with cycling, some running and I finally plucked up the courage to join the gym and start weight training.

“Along with losing weight, other health benefits started kicking in too my blood pressure dropped from extremely high back into the green zone of the chart, I have also suffered with fluid in the inner ear drum for years which has now cleared and my hearing is spot on again.

“I had also lost all my hair to alopecia which then grew back white, I don’t know if my new healthy life style had anything to do with it but it has now returned to its natural colour and is thicker than ever.

“The icing on the cake was ticking Pen y Fan mountain off my bucket list. Words can not describe how happy I was that in just seven months I had gone from being a couch potato to literally climbing a mountain.

Mr Mcauley said he had been at his target weight for “a little over two months” and that he was “enjoying the freedom that reaching target brings, also managing to maintain it easily thanks to being active again”.
