Man threatened to stick partner’s dad ‘like a pig’
A MAN threatened to stick his girlfriend’s father like a pig during a five day period of shouting verbal abuse outside his home.
Gary Douglas Evans pleaded guilty at Llanelli Magistrates’ Court on Thursday to harassing the man at his home in Burry Port between July 6 and 11. Evans, of Brynmor Road, Llanelli, also admitted two charges of assault against his girlfriend on July 21 and August 10.
In one of those incidents he bit the woman on the hand.
Prosecutor Sian Vaughan said the woman’s father had not approved of the relationship, which had now ended: “The defendant had attended her father’s home address and was shouting verbal abuse, saying that he was going to “stick him like a pig”.
Turning to the assaults of his partner at a house in Llanelli, the court heard from defence solicitor Richard Morgan that one of the occasions there had “been an element of drug taking” at the property.
Mrs Vaughan said: “At the property, his partner picked up a needle and Evans then bit her on the hand and she let it go.”
No details were given about the second assault charge and it was not stated on which date Evans had bitten the victim.
Mr Morgan in defence said: “It is regrettable what has happened and my client has spent a week in custody to reflect on his actions. He does not wish to continue the relationship but admits the assaults took place and the verbal abuse towards her father. Her father does not approve of the relationship.”
Evans had spent the entire hearing holding his left arm and as the case came to close he told the magistrates’ bench that he believed he had broken his arm as he fell coming up the steps from the cells to the dock.
Chair of the magistrates’ bench Alison Elizabeth Dorothy Evans said: “Well that may be a little bit dramatic”, before continuing to tell Evans, 36, that he will be sentenced at a domestic violence court at Llanelli Magistrates’ Court. He was granted conditional bail until then.
The conditions include not entering pubs and clubs in Llanelli, not entering Burry Port and reporting to Llanelli Police station on two days ahead of the sentencing hearing.
He must also reside and spend each night at Brynmor Road, Llanelli.
