Three arrests after police drugs raid on town address

THREE men have been arrested following a drugs raid in Llanelli.

The men, one from Llanelli and two from Merseyside, have been released under investigat­ion.

The warrant is the latest incident in Dyfed-Powys Police’s war against drugs in the town.

There were a total of 38 heroin-related deaths in the space of 42 months in Llanelli, prompting the Operation Ulysses drug crackdown earlier this year.

As a result of the investigat­ion, an organised gang of 28 bringing a large amount of drugs into the town were put behind bars.

This latest drugs warrant took place on Wednesday.

“Police carried out a Misuse of Drugs Act warrant at a property at Y Fan, Llwynhendy on Wednesday, August 22,” a police spokeswoma­n said.

“At around noon uniformed and armed officers forced entry to the property.

“Quick police interventi­on led to the seizure of a quantity of Class A drugs, a number of mobile phones, drug parapherna­lia and a stash of cash.

“A 29-year-old man from Y Fan, Llanelli, and two 19-year-old men from Bootle, Merseyside, were arrested on suspicion of possession of Class A drugs with intent to supply. They have been released under investigat­ion.”

Sergeant Gemma Davies added: “DyfedPowys Police is urging anyone with concerns about drug taking or supply happening in their local community to please get in touch.

“Action may not be taken immediatel­y, but all informatio­n is used to build a picture of what is happening. Where appropriat­e and necessary, warrants will be carried out.
