Busi­ness­man loses fight with cancer

TRIB­UTES have been paid to a highly-re­spected Llanelli busi­ness­man who has died fol­low­ing a bat­tle with cancer.

By­ron Jenk­ins, of the town’s Diplo­mat Ho­tel, passed away last Mon­day night. Mov­ing mes­sages have been paid in trib­ute to the ho­tel owner who was seen as an “in­spi­ra­tion” and “bril­liant com­pany” to those who knew him.

Friend Phil Bowen took to Face­book to pay trib­ute to Mr Jenk­ins after his loss.

He said: “It’s with great sad­ness and tears, my hero and most re­spected busi­ness man in Llanelli, Mr By­ron Jenk­ins of the Diplo­mat Ho­tel, has passed away tonight. Loved by so many, By­ron fought cancer and put on a great fight. Heaven is a bet­ter place now.”

Robert Har­ris said he was dev­as­tated at the news, adding: “By­ron was a won­der­ful per­son, an in­spi­ra­tional busi­ness­man and was bril­liant com­pany. So­cially, he was a plea­sure to be around.”

Mean­while, Ju­lian Lack said: “By­ron was a true gentle­man, he will be sadly missed by many. My thoughts are with Mrs Jenk­ins, Paul, Ge­orgina and all the fam­ily.”

For­mer staff mem­ber Emma Davies said he would be missed. She said: “So sorry to hear this news. Mr Jenk­ins was a kind, com­pas­sion­ate and gen­er­ous man and we had many good times when I worked in the ho­tel. Ex­tend my sym­pa­thies to your fam­ily.”

Gary Bowen de­scribed Mr Jenk­ins as “a true gentle­man” who “al­ways made time to chat.”

Robert Lloyd added: “So sad to learn of the death of By­ron Jenk­ins of The Diplo­mat Ho­tel.

“A ma­jor com­mu­nity fig­ure in Llanelli life for many years. RIP By­ron. Con­do­lences to all fam­ily and friends.”
