Businessman loses fight with cancer
TRIBUTES have been paid to a highly-respected Llanelli businessman who has died following a battle with cancer.
Byron Jenkins, of the town’s Diplomat Hotel, passed away last Monday night. Moving messages have been paid in tribute to the hotel owner who was seen as an “inspiration” and “brilliant company” to those who knew him.
Friend Phil Bowen took to Facebook to pay tribute to Mr Jenkins after his loss.
He said: “It’s with great sadness and tears, my hero and most respected business man in Llanelli, Mr Byron Jenkins of the Diplomat Hotel, has passed away tonight. Loved by so many, Byron fought cancer and put on a great fight. Heaven is a better place now.”
Robert Harris said he was devastated at the news, adding: “Byron was a wonderful person, an inspirational businessman and was brilliant company. Socially, he was a pleasure to be around.”
Meanwhile, Julian Lack said: “Byron was a true gentleman, he will be sadly missed by many. My thoughts are with Mrs Jenkins, Paul, Georgina and all the family.”
Former staff member Emma Davies said he would be missed. She said: “So sorry to hear this news. Mr Jenkins was a kind, compassionate and generous man and we had many good times when I worked in the hotel. Extend my sympathies to your family.”
Gary Bowen described Mr Jenkins as “a true gentleman” who “always made time to chat.”
Robert Lloyd added: “So sad to learn of the death of Byron Jenkins of The Diplomat Hotel.
“A major community figure in Llanelli life for many years. RIP Byron. Condolences to all family and friends.”
