Gar­den­ing and crafts show Pem­brey and Burry Port Gar­den­ing Club hosted its 36th an­nual gar­den­ing and crafts show at Pem­brey Me­mo­rial Hall. A mar­quee housed an en­cour­ag­ingly good num­ber of en­tries of veg­eta­bles, flow­ers, fruit, flo­ral art and chil­dren’s classes. There was, this year, a par­tic­u­larly well sup­ported bon­sai trees class. The Me­mo­rial Hall, it­self, housed at­trac­tive en­tries of hand­i­crafts, cook­ery, pre­serves, wine, art, wood­work and pho­tog­ra­phy. A large num­ber of spec­ta­tors ar­rived in the af­ter­noon to view the 135 classes of ex­hibits; en­joy tasty re­fresh­ments; pur­chase gar­den plants and pro­duce; try their luck on the raf­fle and have their blood pres­sure checked at a mo­bile unit manned by Cefn Si­dan Ro­tary Club. An af­ter­noon of va­ri­ety! Show pres­i­dents were county coun­cil­lor Em­lyn Dole, leader of Car­marthen­shire Coun­cil, and Pem­brey and Burry Port Town Mayor, coun­cil­lor Bob John. Pem­brey School’s art win­ners were: To­mas, Betsy How­ells-Davies, Tay­lor Evans, El­iz­a­beth Fos­ter, Emily Bai­ley, Elsa Gee, Jack Kirby, Char­lotte Sims, Lexi-Louise Dev­er­aux, Harry Fow­den, Mali Jenk­ins, Ka­iah Marsh, Macey Holden, Freddy Green and Ari­anna Protheroe. Pem­brey Com­mu­nity Grow­ing As­so­ci­a­tion’s gar­den plots were open to visi­tors. Paul Wil­lis was the win­ner of ‘The Best Plot Chal­lenge Shield’ whilst Mike Bun­yan won the ‘The Peo­ple’s Vote Best Plot.’ Con­grat­u­la­tions to all win­ners and thanks to all com­peti­tors, judges, sup­port­ers and visi­tors.
