Pembrey
Gardening and crafts show Pembrey and Burry Port Gardening Club hosted its 36th annual gardening and crafts show at Pembrey Memorial Hall. A marquee housed an encouragingly good number of entries of vegetables, flowers, fruit, floral art and children’s classes. There was, this year, a particularly well supported bonsai trees class. The Memorial Hall, itself, housed attractive entries of handicrafts, cookery, preserves, wine, art, woodwork and photography. A large number of spectators arrived in the afternoon to view the 135 classes of exhibits; enjoy tasty refreshments; purchase garden plants and produce; try their luck on the raffle and have their blood pressure checked at a mobile unit manned by Cefn Sidan Rotary Club. An afternoon of variety! Show presidents were county councillor Emlyn Dole, leader of Carmarthenshire Council, and Pembrey and Burry Port Town Mayor, councillor Bob John.
