TATA Steel were in irresistib­le form as the National Championsh­ip returned as they claimed a huge 69-29 win over Bedlinog.

Aled Rees led the way with a fivetry haul, while Morgan Williams bagged a brace.

Bleddyn Davies, Dai Griggs and Geraint Llewellyn added the other tries, while the latter was also on hand to kick eight conversion­s and a penalty.

Bedlinog hit back through try doubles from Dan Davies and Aaron Harris. Nathan Huish was also on the scoresheet, with Rhys Davies adding two conversion­s.

The mammoth win sees Tata at the top of the table after the opening weekend.

Trebanos also picked up maximum points as they saw off Newcastle Emlyn 26-19.

Lewis Humphreys, Llyr Davies and Matthew Edwards were among the scorers, with Edwards adding six points from the tee.

Emrys Davies, Brynmor Jones and Arthur Lennon hit back for Emlyn, while Dan Davies kicked two conversion­s.

Pontypool started the season with a bang as they beat newly-promoted Ystrad Rhondda 29-18.

Cardiff Met are the only other side with maximum points after the first weekend thanks to their 44-20 win over Maesteg Quins.

Newbridge beat Rhydyfelin 21-12 while Narberth edged past Beddau 20-17.
