BANWEN made an excellent start to the Three West Central B season as they blew Pontrhydyf­en away 56-8.

Anthony Llewellyn added two conversion­s to his hat-trick of tries in the stylish victory.

Craig Holloway, Simon Herdman, Jacob French, Jamie Elkins and Sam Evans added further tries, with Evans kicking six conversion­s.

Luke Joyce bagged a consolatio­n try for Pontrhydyf­en while Morgan Kennerley kicked a penalty.

Baglan opened with a 22-10 win at Rhigos. Sam Owen crossed twice and Alex Philpott added a third but they just missed out on a bonus point.

Ryan Compton kicked two conversion­s and a penalty to complete the scoring.

A tight match between Cwmllynfel­l and Alltwen ended with the latter claiming a 20-19 victory. Jordan Hopkins and Ceri Jones crossed for Alltwen, with Liam Byrne kicking nine points.

Peter Thomas kicked four penalties to add to a penalty try for Cwmllynfel­l, which was enough to claim a losing bonus point.

Crynant were beaten 58-0 at Bryncethin, with Briton Ferry losing 50-12 to Pontycymer.

Cefn Cribwr beat Glyncorrwg 13-6.
