Waun battle back to win

A DEPLETED Gwaun-cae-Gurwen Bowls Club defeated Cymmer 82-75 in a league match.

They were without two of their regular skips, were a player short and had players from their ladies’ section assisting them.

Waun got off to a steady start and led 20-12 after five ends.

Cymmer overcame this deficit to take a two-shot lead at half way, then pressed ahead to hold a 57-43 advantage after 15 ends.

Waun battled back to level with just two ends to play, then took charge in the final stages to claim victory and pick up nine of the 14 points on offer.

Waun visit Croeserw on Saturday and Blaengwynfi on Sunday.
