£1k boost for bid to buy club
BURRY Port rugby club have been saying a massive thank you after getting a £1,000 boost to their Buy Our Club fund.
County councillor Amanda Fox applied for The Persimmon Homes Community Champions award on behalf of Burry Port RFC’s Buy Our Club fund to help keep the clubhouse.
A spokesman for the club said: “Amanda said that she had stated in her application how proud she was of all the fantastic work that Burry Port RFC and Burry Port RFC juniors do in our community and of all the volunteers who give up their time to develop our children, this was then presented to a panel from Persimmon Homes who made the decision to award the prize. Thank you again Amanda!”
Mrs Fox said: “There is no need to thank me, I only filled in an application form. The rugby club plays a huge part in the lives of the youngsters in our community and it is the volunteers I would like to thank .
“This Community Champions award is well deserved.
“Both county councillor John James and myself appreciate all the work the volunteers at the club do for the community.”
