Hughes grabs brace as Penclawdd storm to win

PENCLAWDD made it 10 points from 10 with another bonus-point victory in Two West, this time thrashing Mumbles 55-24.

Jonathan Hughes spearheade­d the attack with a brace of tries and he was backed up by Danny James, Ed Curtis, Tom Devonald, Kristian Corbisiero, Rhys Eaton and Jack Petherbrid­ge.

Dan Guarneri sealed the win for Penclawdd, who will be looking to return to One West at the first time of asking, with 15 points from the tee.

Carmarthen Athletic are one of two sides — Pembroke are the other after beating Fishguard 17-16 — on nine points following their 22-0 win at St Clears.

Steff Jones, Dan Evans and Robbie Thomas got the tries. Carl Williams kicked two conversion­s and a penalty.

Last season’s Three West B champions Burry Port are up and running after a thumping 38-10 win over Loughor.

Micaiah Jones crossed twice and wing Owen Thomas and replacemen­t fly-half Ceiron Thomas also touched down.

A penalty try extended their lead further, with full-back Gareth Rees adding the finishing touches with three penalties and a conversion.

Prop Rob Thomas and flanker Tom J Davies hit back for Loughor.

Tumble found the winning formula with a 20-3 success over neighbours Pontyberem.

Jonathan Lloyd, Liam Williams and Sam Jones all went over for Tumble, with Steff Pryce kicking five points.

Rhodri Lewis added a penalty for Pontyberem, who had Delfrig Treharne sent off.

Elsewhere, Pontarddul­ais beat Tycroes 21-10.

Aled Stone kicked 11 points, with Phil White and Josh Goss adding tries.

Shane Roberts converted Steff Jones’s try for Tycroes and added a penalty.
