Ban slashed after appeal
A FOOTBALL manager suspended for three years for alleged social media comments about a Costcutter League referee has had the ban reduced dramatically.
St Dogmaels manager Steve Jerry Williams was suspended in May by a Central Wales Football Association disciplinary committee and fined £500 for alleged comments about a referee in a league game on the final day of last season.
The 43-year-old didn’t name anyone and claimed the comments were in regard to a matter outside football.
During the appeal considered by a Football Association of Wales panel at Llandrindod Wells, when Williams was legally represented, the suspension was reduced to six matches and the fine to £120.
Williams said: “I did not name anyone in the post and I have respect for referees who have to do a difficult job. I would like to thank St Dogmaels FC and fans for their backing and also other Costcutter clubs who gave their support.”
