Ammanford warm up for new campaign with close win

-

AMMANFORD Under-15s defeated Port Tennant Colts 4-3 in their final pre-season friendly.

Ammanford had the edge, with pace men Osian Davies and Scott Pugh always causing a threat. The midfield of Tyler Davison, Callum Thomas, Cian Williams and Steffan Thomas were always in the mix, looking to supply the two gazelles.

Ammanford took the lead with an opportunist goal from poacher Williams after a mix-up in defence. He soon got his brace after a perfect assist from Davies.

Ammanford made six changes at half-time but they maintained their good form and went 3-0 up after a solo run from winger Harry Thomas, who put Pugh through and he rifled the ball into the net.

A Port Tennant midfielder stunned the crowd with an absolute belter from just outside the circle to make it 3-1, and soon after it was 3-2 and game on.

Ammanford’s defence regrouped, with Harrison Griffiths, Iestyn Richards, Harry Jones and Kellen Edwards lining up at the back, providing pace, experience and heart, backed up by an excellent stand-in keeper performance from Logan Davies, later replaced by Kieran

Brooks.

Ammanford got back on top and Pugh made it 4-2. Ammanford continued to control the game with great performances from linkmen Ethan Morgan and Jack Chapman, though the Swansea side were rewarded for their efforts with a third goal, taking the contest to the end, but Ammanford held on to win 4-3.
