ROVER – DOG SITTERS & WALKERS (iOS and Android, free)

ONE thing the internet excels at is connecting people who need a service with those that provide it, and you won’t find a better example of that than Rover.

It’s a new service, powered by a smartphone app, that allows dog owners to hook up with dog sitters and dog walkers.

It sounds simple, and it is

– but the app provides some bonus features that make this service a delight to use.

You can keep up with how your dog is doing while you’re at work or away as your sitter or walker posts updates for you to view.

You can even see GPS generated maps of your dog’s walks…

The service is already

popular in the US, with over 200,000 sitters and walkers registered.

Each sets their own prices.

Rover is at pains to point out its safety features, too – not just anybody can sign up to look after your dog. In fact only 20% of

those that apply are accepted, after a rigorous screening process. At the moment it’s only available in London, Manchester, Birmingham and Leeds – but watch out for it appearing in your area as it continues its expansion across the country.
