FRANCIS THE HERO IN GLYNNEATH WIN

GLYNNEATH kept their place at the top of One West Central after beating Bonymaen 18-12 in a top-of-thetable clash.

Tries by Owen Nesbit and Craig Tennant steered Glynneath to victory with Dylan Francis sealing the result from the tee.

Richard Cunniffe bagged all of Bonymaen’s points through penalties.

Kenfig Hill took advantage of Bonymaen’s defeat to move up to second following their 42-11 win over Aberavon Quins.

Mike Kennedy led the way with two tries and he was followed over the whitewash by Tom Briggs, Owen Davies, Connor Tantum and a penalty try.

Joe Gallivant kicked the rest of the points.

Ammanford bagged their first point of the season after suffering a narrow 29-28 defeat to Waunarlwyd­d.

Ceri Rees, Paul Davies and Morgan Price all touched down for Ammanford, with Stefan Roberts kicking the rest of the points.

Adam Mort, Leighton Lamb, Rhys Cherry and Steffan Jones handed Waunarlwyd­d a bonus point while Lee Evans delivered the win from the kicking tee.

Skewen, who were relegated from the National Championsh­ip at the end of last season, made it back-toback wins with a 33-14 triumph over Maesteg Celtic.

Mark Harvey, Tom Kingdom, Joe Lewis, Rhys Jenkins and Antony Buselli all touched down for Skewen with the latter kicking the remaining points.

Last year’s runners-up Ystalyfera were in rampant mood as they thrashed Tondu 57-17.

Bowdy Davies, Steffan Jones and Luc Caines all crossed twice for Ystalyfera.

Gareth James, Johnathan Bayliss and Zac Beynon added further tries while Steffan Castle booted six conversion­s.

Trebanos picked up a losing bonus point as they were beaten 34-27 in a thrilling encounter at Ystrad Rhondda in the National Championsh­ip.

Llyr Davies, Chris Forshaw and Matthew Edwards all crashed over for Trebanos, with Edwards kicking the rest of the points.

But newly-promoted Ystrad claimed victory as Jack Foulkes, Jay Harris, Harvey Connelly and Jarred Llewellyn scored tries to hand them a bonus point.

Rhys Truelove fired over four conversion­s and two penalties to seal an entertaini­ng victory.

Trebanos now sit sixth in the league after falling to back-to-back defeats.

Tata Steel’s fixture with Maesteg Quins was postponed, which leaves them in mid-table despite playing a game fewer than the rest of the teams in the league.

Champions Pontypool continued their winning start to the season with a 29-18 win at Beddau.

Cardiff Met and Narberth joined them on 14 points with a 41-29 win over Newcastle Emlyn and 36-13 triumph over Rhydyfelin respective­ly.

Bedlinog saw off a spirited Newbridge 16-13.
