Carnival committee Ten members of the carnival committee met last week after the summer recess to discuss the winter Father Christmas parade and the planning for the building of the Christmas festivities and grotto. The committee heard that the chairman had contacted both the Llanedi Community Council and the Pontarddulais councils to discuss plans about the arrangements and was waiting written responses from the councils. The next meeting of the committee to further discuss the parade and the planning for the grotto would be held following the AGM of the committee, which will be held on Thursday, October 11, at 7pm in Noddfa Chapel. Hendy junior female football Parents have started a new junior girls’ football team; they will be training and meeting on Monday evenings at 5.30pm. A new Facebook page and group has been started for the new girls’ football team, each training session there will be subs of £1 collected or when a league match events/games are held it will be £5 for the month. The group can be found on Facebook by typing Hendy Girls Football. Parents and guardians of young ladies can find out more about the new club and training by contacting the Facebook group.
Festival of Remembrance The Festival of Remembrance concert to commemorate the end of the First World War will be held at Pontarddulais Leisure Centre on November 10 at 7pm. Tickets are now on sale for £10 and are available from Canolfan y Bont, 01792 885532, or you can contact any Pontarddulais Town Band members or Pontarddulais Male Choir members or any of the local schools choirs who are taking part. This will be an excellent evening of entertainment to commemorate the people of Pontarddulais, Hendy and Llanedi during the First World War.
