Car­ni­val com­mit­tee Ten mem­bers of the car­ni­val com­mit­tee met last week af­ter the sum­mer re­cess to dis­cuss the win­ter Fa­ther Christ­mas pa­rade and the plan­ning for the build­ing of the Christ­mas fes­tiv­i­ties and grotto. The com­mit­tee heard that the chair­man had con­tacted both the Llanedi Com­mu­nity Coun­cil and the Pon­tard­du­lais coun­cils to dis­cuss plans about the ar­range­ments and was wait­ing writ­ten re­sponses from the coun­cils. The next meet­ing of the com­mit­tee to fur­ther dis­cuss the pa­rade and the plan­ning for the grotto would be held fol­low­ing the AGM of the com­mit­tee, which will be held on Thurs­day, Oc­to­ber 11, at 7pm in Noddfa Chapel. Hendy ju­nior fe­male foot­ball Par­ents have started a new ju­nior girls’ foot­ball team; they will be train­ing and meet­ing on Mon­day evenings at 5.30pm. A new Face­book page and group has been started for the new girls’ foot­ball team, each train­ing ses­sion there will be subs of £1 col­lected or when a league match events/games are held it will be £5 for the month. The group can be found on Face­book by typ­ing Hendy Girls Foot­ball. Par­ents and guardians of young ladies can find out more about the new club and train­ing by con­tact­ing the Face­book group.

Fes­ti­val of Re­mem­brance The Fes­ti­val of Re­mem­brance con­cert to com­mem­o­rate the end of the First World War will be held at Pon­tard­du­lais Leisure Cen­tre on Novem­ber 10 at 7pm. Tick­ets are now on sale for £10 and are avail­able from Canol­fan y Bont, 01792 885532, or you can con­tact any Pon­tard­du­lais Town Band mem­bers or Pon­tard­du­lais Male Choir mem­bers or any of the lo­cal schools choirs who are tak­ing part. This will be an ex­cel­lent evening of en­ter­tain­ment to com­mem­o­rate the peo­ple of Pon­tard­du­lais, Hendy and Llanedi dur­ing the First World War.
