Pontyberem edge through in White Lion showdown

THE Llanelli & District Snooker League returned with the first round of the White Lion Cup.

In the division one section, Pontyberem progressed with a 4-3 win at Llanelli Cons A thanks to Paul Rees, B. Newcombe, Kieran Evans and Karl Goble being on top.

Burry Port Reading Room Reds joined them in the second round with a 4-1 win against Snooker World A, and Lee Holland, Mike Lloyd, Alan Emmanuel and Carl Thomas gave Trimsaran A a 4-0 passage against Reading Room Blues.

G. Lane, Keri Phillips, Rich Nurse and Dean Thomas put Burry Port Legion through at Morfa’s expense, while Matchroom Whites won 4-3 at Upper Tumble Blues courtesy of Tyler Rees, Dai Roberts and Leighton Davies.

Matchroom Reds knocked New Lodge A out 4-2, and A. Griffiths, M. Footman, S. Dunn and D. Marston gave Pontarddulais Workmen’s A a 4-2 victory over Gorseinon A.

Llandybie Social A knocked out Tycroes A 4-0, P. Howatson, Geraint Rees, Tim Walters and Huw Morgan on the ball.

In the division two section, Mike Rickard, G. Langford, A. John and Mark Phillips gave New Lodge B a 4-0 cup passage at Calsonic Rivals.

Also through are Pontarddulais Workmen’s B, 4-0 who were winners against Llandybie Social B thanks to Jordan Dubesky, Brian Ball, Peter Hopkins and Gethin Daniel.

Llanelli Cons B exited 4-0 at Bryn, whose frame-winners were Roy Richards, Clive Richards, Josh Townsend and Dale Evans.

Tycroes B also exited stage left with a 4-0 loss at Cross Hands B, while Pontarddulais Cons are out after a 4-0 defeat to Cross Hands A.

Llandybie RFC beat CGMD 4-2, Llanesco defeated Upper Tumble Reds 4-0, and Craig Chandler, Jeff Howells, Kev Lewis and Stephen Rees gave Ponthenri Social a 4-1 passage against Great Mountain, Tumble.
