Thomas in cup triumph

THE 36-hole McGarvie Cup took centre stage at Carmarthen Golf Club.

It saw the experienced David Thomas take on the youthful Scott Jones, and in a match that went back and forth it was Thomas who finally came out on top with a 2up win.

The Mond Cup was competed for by two stalwarts of the Tigers team, with Paul Davies facing Alan Price.

But Price did not bring his A game and Davies ran out a 5&4 winner.

The Brigstock Cup saw another win for the experienced players when Gerald Vaughan defeated Carwyn Evans.

The JB Arthur Cup was a onesided affair with Peter Moroney beating Nick Ingram 6&4.

In the most exciting match of the day, Alan Williams took on Ryan Bowen in the seniors’ Gog Cup. Williams built a comfortable lead after the turn, but Bowen’s comeback saw the match all square after 18. And an excellent up and down on the 20th saw him take the match.

The 4BBB final for the TS Davies Cup saw Steven Rees and Adrian Thomas take on Tom Williams and Ian Elias. The early holes were shared but eventually Rees and Thomas took the match 3&1.

The Iori Jenkins Foursomes Cup clash between Scott Jones and Stuart Evans and Tom Williams and Ian Elias was postponed due to a combination of rain and fog.
