Port close gap on leaders Pembroke after tight win

-

BURRY Port closed the gap on leaders Penclawdd to two points in Two West with a narrow 15-13 win over fellow new boys Pembroke.

Iwan Roberts and Steff Powell went over for Burry Port, who lifted the Three West B title last season. Ben Williams added the remaining five points with his boot.

Ben Collie notched the only try for Pembroke, with Toby Smith kicking eight points.

The league was denied an early top-of-the-table clash as Penclawdd’s trip to Carmarthen Athletic was postponed, but they still occupy the top two positions.

St Clears remain in the bottom two despite bagging their first win of the season with a 14-0 success over Tycroes.

Kieron Stephens and Rhodri Jones inspired St Clears to victory, with James Davies adding both conversions.

Mumbles are also up and running following their 15-13 triumph over Pontyberem.

Joe Rimmell’s hat-trick proved enough to hand Mumbles victory.

The other game in the league saw Loughor edge past Pontarddulais 13-10. Peter Smiriglia converted Joseph Thomas’s try and kicked two penalties to steer Loughor to victory.

Josh Goss hit back for Bont, with Liam Lazarus kicking five points.

Tumble’s match with Fishguard was postponed.
