Help to shape town centre
THIS week our economic development team is heading to the Ffwrnes theatre to talk to people about the future regeneration plans for Llanelli town centre.
We hope this is an opportunity for local residents to see what we think the future can hold for the town, to gain their valuable insight and feedback, and make more positive steps in the right direction.
Although we’re the first to admit there is a long journey ahead, it’s important to point out that much has already been achieved.
Only last week I had the chance to meet the town’s newest retailer, Michelle’s, a ladies fashion shop that has opened in Stepney Street in one of the buildings the council bought from private ownership and renovated to bring back into use.
To me, this shows growing confidence in the town, and I hope local people support this new independent business and help it establish and grow.
Visitors may have also seen some activity around two of the town’s most derelict properties, the former Siop y Werin, which was way beyond repair, and the former Circles nightclub opposite Tinopolis TV studios.
Now undergoing demolition, these will open up key development sites in the town.
I’m excited for what the future holds for Llanelli. I genuinely hope people will get involved and help shape their town centre.
I look forward to speaking with many at Ffwrnes theatre on Thursday.
