Po­lice ar­rest man ‘mak­ing threats with a ma­chete’

PO­LICE have made an ar­rest af­ter a re­port of a man with a ma­chete in Car­marthen­shire.

Po­lice of­fi­cers were called to a house in Llanelli last Tues­day af­ter­noon af­ter re­ceiv­ing a re­port that a man was mak­ing threats.

A man was ar­rested fol­low­ing the in­ci­dent, which al­legedly hap­pened at a house in Water­loo Street in the town cen­tre, and then de­tained un­der the Men­tal Health Act.

A spokes­woman for Dyfed-Powys Po­lice said: “We re­ceived a re­port of a man with a weapon mak­ing threats at a pri­vate prop­erty in Water­loo Street, Llanelli, at around 12.30pm on Tues­day, Oc­to­ber 23.”

She said a ma­chete was seized and a man ar­rested on sus­pi­cion of af­fray and de­tained un­der the men­tal health act.

“He has been re­leased from po­lice cus­tody un­der in­ves­ti­ga­tion.”

No­body was in­jured in the in­ci­dent.
