Baglan bag a bonus to remain at the summit

BAGLAN remain top of the pile in Three West Central B after their 37-23 bonus-point home victory over Pontycymer.

Alex Philpot, Nathan Dare, Cam Loveys and Craig Gregory got tries, with Dan Blethyn converting all four as well as adding three penalties.

It was a sixth win from seven games for Baglan, who are three points clear of Glyncorrwg at the top but have played a game more.

Glyncorrwg won for the fifth time in six league matches as they returned from Rhigos with a 36-22 victory.

Steffan Hnatiuk scored two tries and Neil Sainsbury, Robert Jones, Ben Evans and Steffan Williams also crashed over. Nathan Healy kicked three conversion­s.

It sets things up nicely for a tasty top-of-the-table clash between Glyncorrwg and Baglan when action resumes on November 10.

Bryncethin are third and six points back on Baglan after their 31-23 triumph at Pontrhydyf­en.

The big winners were Cwmllynfel­l, who inflicted a crushing 91-0 defeat on winless bottom side Briton Ferry.

Banwen defeated Cefn Cribwr 27-18 and Alltwen were 39-5 home winners against Crynant.

Jordan Hopkin and Nicky Chart both crossed twice for Alltwen in a five-try win, their first on their own patch so far this season, with Liam Byrne also going over.

In Three Central West A, Abercrave put 70 points on Bryncoch, who had only an unconverte­d Josh Thomas try to show for their efforts.

It was a fifth win from seven games for Abercrave, who are fourth in the table and are four points back on leaders Pyle but have now played a game more than other top three sides, Bridgend Sports and Aberavon Green Stars.

Three West Central C leaders Penygroes made it five wins from six games as they enjoyed a comfortabl­e 45-12 success at Cwmgwrach.

Adam Lee scored twice, while Daniel Rosser, Brandon Lee, Stuart Davies, Nicholas Morris and Chris Powell were also on the scoresheet. Powell kicked the rest of the points.

Furnace United are four points behind with a game in hand after their 19-15 win at Pontyates.

Ogmore Vale beat bottom side Fall Bay 39-0 and Cwmtwrch won 13-11 at Pontardawe.

Visitors South Gower were 24-17 winners against Tonna in the Neath Valley.
