MORFA SUNK BY WHITE-HOT REES

MATCHROOM Whites maintained their good form in division one of the Llanelli and District Snooker League with a convincing 6-1 win against Morfa.

Tyler Rees made a classy 73 clearance, while Chris Davies (54) and Tom Twigg (33) added further excellent breaks.

Dai Roberts and Leighton Davies also won, with Andrew Hatto on the mark for Morfa.

Matchroom Reds stay top of the pile, coming from 2-0 down to win 5-2 at Snooker World courtesy of Jamie Clarke, John Pellew, Justin Thomas and Frank Ellis. Andrew Whitfield and Chris Waters hit back for the Ammanford men.

In the Burry Port derby, James White, Rob Davies, Keri Phillips and Dean Thomas gave the Legion a 5-2 win against Reading Room Reds, whose winning duo were Tony Redmond and Kieren Leaf.

Darren Williams and Sam Jenkins were frame winners for New Lodge A, beaten 5-2 at Pontarddul­ais Workmen’s A. Kevin Sullivan, Steve Dunn, Matt Jones and Mike Footman won for the Bont side.

Kieren Evans, Kevin Selwood and Paul Rees edged a 4-3 win for Pontyberem Workmen’s at Llanelli Cons A. Dean Bowen, Hefyn Jones and Paul Evans won for Cons, for whom Peter Rowlands chipped in with a 34 break.

Leighton Jones and James Ellis were on the ball for Reading Room Blues in a 5-2 defeat to Gorseinon A. Keith Murrells, Luke Murrells, Jonny Wilcox and Mike Dodd won for the visitors.

Wyn Major, Geraint Rees and captain Lyndsey Pugh edged a 4-3 win for Llandybie Social A against Upper Tumble Blues. Carwyn Cue, Nicky Walters and Chris Bishop struck for Blues.

Trimsaran A were 5-2 winners against Tycroes RFC A thanks to Mike Lloyd, Lewis Lloyd, Wyn Phillips and Alan Emmanuel. Marc Walters and Paul Garritty won for the rugby club.

In division two, Ponthenri kept the league’s only remaining unbeaten record, coming from 2-0 behind to grind out a 5-2 win against Cross Hands A. There were wins from Craig Howells, Jeff Howells, Nigel Lewis and Craig Chandler. Howell Pritchard and Richard Griffiths replied.

Brandon Brown provided Great Mountain’s only point as the Tumble side crashed 6-1 at New Lodge B. Roy Morgan, George Langford, Andrew John, Mike Rickard and Leighton Cole all won for the home side.

Calsonic Rivals were 5-2 winners at CGMD courtesy of James Anthony, Luke Williams, Luke Powell and Aaron Cruickshan­k. Mike Dance and Alun Rees won for the Fishermen’s.

D. Evans and Clive Richards struck for Bryn & Trallwm in a 5-2 loss at Cross Hands B, whose frame-winners were Adrian Phillips, Jeff Jones, Mark Davies and Mal Jones.

Martin Davies’s frame win meant Upper Tumble Reds avoided a whitewash in a 6-1 reverse against Llanelli Cons B. Gary Hunt, Kevin John, Peter Jones, Paul Angelone and Viv Roach all won for the latter.

Llandybie RFC claimed the village bragging rights after wins from Liam McGhee, Richard Jones, Dar Sigsworth and Dylan Jones gave them a 5-2 victory against Llandybie Social B.

Shaun Watkins and Steve Pearson won for the Campbell Road cuemen.
