For dogging’

Llanelli Star - - Letters - Robert Arthur jourdi

A JURY has heard about “a lot of dogging going on” at Cefn Sidan beach.

The claim came from Derrick Allan, aged 49, from Ash Grove, Pontyberem, who was found guilty of sexually assaulting a bikini-clad sunbather.

Allan told Swansea Crown Court he thought she wanted him to touch her because “there are a lot of people having sex down there”.

Allan said he regularly sunbathed naked and that the Carmarthen Bay end of the beach was wellknown among naturists.

But it was also the place for people to have sex in front of strangers, he said.

“There is a lot of nudity down there, a lot of swingers,” he added

“There is a lot of dogging. I have seen it myself.”

The woman told the court that she was sunbathing on a remote part of the beach when Allan lay down beside her and touched her intimately.

Allan claimed she had been friendly towards him and he thought they had been getting on well.

“I asked her if it was okay for me to take my clothes off because I usually sunbathe naked and she said it was,” he said.

“I touched her for a couple of seconds. I thought everything was okay so I touched her again.

“I undid her bikini bottom and touched her.”

Allan said he would not have given her his correct name and address if he thought he was touching her against her will.

The court heard that Allan had a previous conviction for indecent assault when he touched a woman on her bottom.

The jury returned a verdict of guilty and Allan will be sentenced on December 21.

He was granted meanwhile. bail
