Scarlets keen on prospect of Josh return

-

WAYNE Pivac says the Scarlets would welcome Wales wing Josh Adams back at the West Wales region.

Adams is out of contract at Worcester Warriors at the end of the season and has a big decision to make over his future.

Under the Welsh Rugby Union’s 60-cap ruling, the 23-yearold has to return to Welsh rugby in order to continue his blossoming international career.

The Scarlets say they are interested in a player who came through their academy system before making the move to Worcester, but Cardiff Blues are also understood to be in the hunt.

Adams was the joint leading try-scorer in the English Premiership last season and started on the wing against both Australia and South Africa this autumn.

“Josh is a Scarlets boy, isn’t he?” said Pivac, when asked about the speculation linking Adams with a return to Wales.

“Through circumstances at the time, he was in the academy and finances then meant we weren’t able to retain everybody.

“He’s gone away, played some really, really good rugby, and he’s coming back to Wales hopefully.

“It will be good to see him in Wales.

“He’s a quality player, he’s playing international level rugby now and he’d be welcomed at the Scarlets, there’s no doubt about that.”

There have also been reports suggesting the Blues are keen to lure another Wales wing, Steff Evans, away from Llanelli.

Pivac added: “Steff is one of ours and we wouldn’t want to see him going anywhere else.”
