Am­man­ford end poor run

AM­MAN­FORD Town ended a run of four games without a win as they cruised to a 4-1 vic­tory over lowly Ton Pen­tre in di­vi­sion one of the Nathaniel Car Sales Welsh League.

Liam Sa­muel handed Am­man­ford the per­fect start with an early strike be­fore Mathew Fisher added a sec­ond on the counter.

Fisher turned provider to set up Ricky Martin for the third goal be­fore Brett Enoch capped off a su­perb vic­tory with a fe­ro­cious ef­fort that went in off the cross­bar.

Leroy Thomas ru­ined Am­man­ford’s clean sheet in the dy­ing sec­onds with a late con­so­la­tion.

Am­man­ford stay 12th in the di­vi­sion ahead of Satur­day’s home clash with strug­gling Port Tal­bot Town, who were ham­mered 6-1 by Goytre United at the week­end.

Mean­while, Gar­den Vil­lage’s fix­ture with Aber­bar­goed Buds in di­vi­sion two was one of those to fall vic­tim to the wet weather which caused a num­ber of post­pone­ments.

Vil­lage are 13th in the ta­ble and could do with some points in or­der to pull clear of the dan­ger zone.

And they will be hope­ful of re­turn­ing to ac­tion on Satur­day when they make the trip east to face mid-ta­ble Mon­mouth Town.

Mon­mouth beat for­mer Welsh League cham­pi­ons Caerau Ely 2-1 at the week­end.
