Jamie ready for re­turn to scene of mem­o­rable march to semis

JAMIE Lewis is pre­par­ing for an­other as­sault on the Wil­liam Hill World Darts Cham­pi­onship at Alexan­dra Palace in Lon­don this month.

The 27-year-old, formerly of Cardi­gan but now based in Car­marthen, is ranked 29 in the Pro­fes­sional Darts Cor­po­ra­tion world or­der of merit. He caused a sen­sa­tion in last year’s cham­pi­onships when be­com­ing the first player to reach the semi-fi­nals af­ter en­ter­ing the com­pe­ti­tion through a pre­lim­i­nary-round event.

Lewis has been drawn against the win­ner of the first-round clash be­tween qual­i­fiers Martin Schindler and Cody Har­ris.

Schindler, aged 22, from Straus­berg in Ger­many, is ranked 48th in the world, while 33-year-old Har­ris from New Zealand is num­ber 154.

The cham­pi­onship of­fers a prize fund of £2,500,000 and starts on Thurs­day, De­cem­ber 13.
