BEN MAKES IT A WIN HAT-TRICK

-

ALL roads from the eight Welsh Schools athletics districts — Afan Nedd Tawe, Cardiff & Vale, Dyfed, Eryri, Glamorgan Valleys, North East Wales, Powys and South East Wales — led to the Penlan Arena field in Brecon for the 42nd Welsh Inter Schools Cross Country Championships, returning in its usual mid-November slot.

Nearly 90 different schools and colleges were represented in this event, which again incorporated the Welsh Colleges Championships and attracted a total of 366 participants.

A number of Dyfed Schools athletes were on the start line and tested themselves against the best in Wales.

The best individual result came in the senior boys’ race where Ben Thomas, a pupil at Y Strade in Llanelli, claimed victory for the third

year in succession.

Ysgol Bro Myrddin’s trio of Dafydd Jones, Liam Edwards and Frank Morgan were second, third and fourth in the under-15 boys’ event.

There were also top-10 finishes for Ffion Ouseley, Iwan Thomas, Jack Thomas and Iori Humphreys.

There was great success for Ysgol Bro Myrddin’s teams in the boys’ categories. They took a team double thanks to their under-13 boys (Ifan Bowen, Rogan Cox, Zach Elvy and Steffan Davies) and under-15 boys’ squads (Dafydd Jones, Liam Edwards, Frank Morgan and Ioan Cressey-Rodgers).
