BODYBUILDING star James ‘Flex’ Lewis was named the Brin Isaac sportsperson of the year at the annual dinner at Llanelli’s Stradey Park Hotel.
The 35-year-old, who lives in Las Vegas, was unable to attend the event, but his parents picked up the award on his behalf, while Flex sent a message of thanks for recognition of his record-breaking Mr Olympia achievements.
Wales rugby head coach Warren Gatland and Wales football assistant coach Osian Roberts were the chief guests at another successful evening.
The runner up to Flex and winner of the Walter Hughes Cup was 19-year-old judo champion Danielle Williams.
Llanelli Town AFC boss Andy Hill received the W Jack Hughes Cup as coach of the year; multiple British cycling champion Emma Finucane was the junior sportsperson of the year, taking home the Star Cup and a cheque for a £1,000 with teenage pistol shooter Lucy Thomas runner-up and winner of the Stradey Centenary Cup.
Cricket stalwart John Prickett was awarded the Kelly Evans Shield for services to sport.
