Crwbin Silver Band With the lead up to Christmas the band are extremely busy. It is always a hectic time of year with demand for the band’s services as high as ever. There have been carol evenings and services at Tumble Hall, Carmel Apostolic Church, Tumble and at Bancffosfelen and Crwbin Hall with the pupils of Ysgol Bancffosfelen. On December 8 at Pontyberem Memorial Hall the band performed alongside Côr Llanddarog a’r Cylch and a choir from Ysgol Pontyberem at a grand concert organised by the hall committee in support of the main artist Gruffudd Wyn from Anglesey, a Britain’s Got Talent finalist. The band, led by band president Julian Jones, were proud to have been invited to this prestigious event and to receive positive feedback on the performance. With the tradition of playing carols around the villages of Bancffosfelen, Crwbin, Pontyberem and Llangyndeyrn in full swing, the members would like to thank the communities for their loyal support – it is gratefully appreciated. LLANELLI’S MP Nia Griffith joined residents in Tyisha for a community skip day on Saturday, which was organised by local councillors Suzy Curry and Andre McPherson.
Ms Griffith said: “Even in icy rain, people living in the Tyisha ward of Llanelli filled the first skip with lots of bulky household items in less than 45 minutes.
“This is an important option for people without cars, so thanks to Tyisha’s excellent councillors Suzy and Andre for organising the skip for local residents.
Tyisha councillor Suzy Curry said: “We filled two skips in just three hours thanks to the residents of Tyisha who turned out in the most awful of conditions.
“It was great to be joined by our MP, Brian Mogford from Pride in your Patch and Duncan McKenna, who runs the skip business, who were also a huge help on the day.”
The next skip collection for Tyisha residents will take place from 11am to 2pm on Saturday, January 26, in the parking area in Clos Sant Paul.
