CARMARTHEN Golf Club seniors were back on the fairways following the cancellation of a couple of competitions due to the wet weather as they took part in a three-division stableford.

They were faced with a strong wind and the course playing long, but 55 golfers took part.

In division one, Stuart Barclay came out on top with 35 points, beating Tony Jones on countback, with Tim Harries in third with 34.

Division two was won by Alan Edwards on 37 points, followed by Nick Ingram on 35 and Graham Williams on 33.

The division three and overall winner was Mike Davies on 38 points, followed by Hywel Morris on 36 and John Fretter on 35.

Twos were recorded by Stuart Barclay, Huw Rees, Ken Gealy, Phill Webb and Ian Ritchie.

The seniors also held their annual dinner, with Rhodri Davies taking over as captain for the forthcoming season. Huw Rees was chosen as his vice-captain.

The two main awards on the night were the Bandit of the Year, which went to Nick Ingram, and the coveted Bill Kirke Green Lamp for the most points won in senior matches, which was awarded to Tony Jones.
