RED-HOT SHOW BY MATCHROOM

-

THE top match in the Llanelli Snooker League first division saw Pontarddulais Workmen’s travel to Matchroom Reds.

But the Bont men returned emptyhanded after the Reds swept to a 7-0 win thanks to Paul Thomas, Craig Price, Phil Williams, Andrew Rosser, John Pellew and Frank Ellis.

Llandybie Social claimed their best win of the season with a 7-0 thumping of high-flying Matchroom Whites. Wyn Major, Peter Howatson, Geraint Rees, Tim Walters, Roger Morgan and captain Lyndsey Pugh completed the rout.

Jamie Tudor’s excellent 65 break was the highlight of Morfa’s 4-3 win against Burry Port Legion, added to wins from Rob Hughes and Andrew Hatto. Dean Thomas, Keri Phillips and Garnet Lane replied.

Chris Bishop prevented a possible whitewash as Upper Tumble Blues crashed 6-1 to Llanelli Cons A. Mike Moore, Keith Moore, Dean Bowen, Hefin Jones and Paul Evans won for the latter.

Kieran Proctor and Alan Emmanuel were Trimsaran’s frame-winners in a 5-2 defeat at Pontyberem Workmen’s, for whom Emyr Bowen, Kevin Selwood, Paul Rees and Kieren Evans (31 break) were on the ball.

Andrew Whitfield and Chris Waters contributed points for Snooker World, beaten 5-2 at Gorseinon Workmen’s A. Mike Dodd (52 break), Johnny Wilcox, Luke Murrell and Mike Davies won for the Brighton Road side.

Liam Hughes, Dar Williams and Mike Wood were New Lodge A’s winning trio in a 4-3 defeat at the hands of Reading Room Blues. Leighton Jones (40), Craig Jones and Peter Kelly won for the Burry Port potters.

Division two leaders Cross Hands B edged an aggregate 4-3 win by just two points at Llanelli Cons B after Mark Davies, Dai Isaac and the evergreen Jeff Jones had won. Cons’ points came from Kevin John, Paul Angelone and Gary Hunt.

Llanesco won 6-1 at Tycroes RFC B, while Ponthenri Social bounced back with a 4-3 win at Pontarddulais Cons courtesy of Craig Chandler, Alun James, Jeff Howells and Howard Thomas. Geraint Thomas and Jimmy Hughes helped rescue the aggregate point for the Bont side.

Calsonic Rivals lost 4-3 to Upper Tumble Reds.

Despite being a man short, Llandybie RFC won 4-3 at Great Mountain thanks to Simon Williams, Sion Isaac, Dylan Jones and Dar Sigsworth. Only Brandon Brown won for the Tumble hosts.

Leighton Cole knocked in a break of 50 in his frame win but that was as good as it got for New Lodge B, who were beaten 6-1 at Pontarddulais Workmen’s B. Jordan Dubesky, Danny Carr, David Gabe, Gethin Daniel and Chris Griffiths chalked up wins for the Bont team.

Steve Pearson and Howard Wood wins were enough to take the aggregate, but Llandybie Social B still lost 4-3 at Cross Hands A.

Bryn & Trallwm overcame Glanaman side CGMD 5-2 thanks to Josh Townsend, Dale Evans and Clive Richards.

Ray Evans and Mike Dance won for the Fishermen.
