Alfie bags a festive brace in fine show

-

AMMANFORD Town gave their followers some early Christmas cheer as they stormed past Cwmbran Celtic in division one of the Nathaniel Car Sales Welsh League.

Alfie Stotter scored twice, while Matthew Fisher, Liam Samuel and Matthew Jones also had their scoring boots on in a 5-0 win.

The result moved Ammanford, in seventh, to within two points of sixth-placed Cwmbran Celtic with a game in hand.

Ammanford face a tough task in their next encounter when they host Cambrian & Clydach on Saturday.

The Rhondda side are in the final of the Nathaniel MG Cup – they have seen off The New Saints on their remarkable cup journey – and have gone into the festive schedule on the back of an impressive 3-1 victory at Afan Lido.

Meanwhile at Victoria Road, the points were shared as Port Talbot Town and Cwmamman United drew 1-1.

It was a tale of two penalties with Jandir Zola scoring from the spot to put the Steelmen ahead at the break only to be cancelled out by Colin Harris in the second half.

Cwmamman are fifth in the table with Port Talbot in 13th.

Cwm host Cwmbran Celtic on Saturday.

The two sides are locked together in the table on 20 points, though Cwm have four games in hand.

In division two, a brace of goals from Scott Smith alongside efforts from Kieran Richards and Jack Jenkins steered Garden Village to a 4-2 home victory over Caerau Ely.

The victory lifted the Stafford Common side to 11th in the table.

But they face a tricky encounter on Saturday when they make the trip to Abergavenny Town, who are second in the table behind Croesyceiliog.
