Pivac keen on NZ tour

-

WAYNE Pivac isn’t fazed by the prospect of Wales’ first tour under his command being to his New Zealand homeland.

Wales are set to face next year’s World Cup favourites in a three-Test series in 2020.

New Zealand is the toughest trip of the lot.

But rather being daunted by the prospect of touring a country Wales haven’t beaten since 1953, Kiwi Pivac is embracing the challenge the back-to-back world champions pose.

“I have heard it’s on the horizon but when it’s confirmed, it’s confirmed,” said Pivac.

“I think that would be fantastic if it was to come to fruition. What better way early on to test yourself against one of the best teams, if not the best, in the world?

“That would certainly be a big challenge but one I’m sure everyone would look forward to.”

Pivac also said it would be a “proud moment” for him to go head to head with his home nation.

“It would be a Six Nations followed by three matches against the All Blacks,” he added.

He takes over as Wales head coach from Warren Gatland following the conclusion of next year’s World Cup in Japan.
