Bike crash vic­tim ‘de­voted to fam­ily’

THE dev­as­tated fam­ily of a 35-year-old mo­tor­cy­clist who died fol­low­ing a crash near Swansea ear­lier this week have de­scribed him as a “de­voted” fa­ther.

Craig Roberts died af­ter the mo­tor­cy­cle he was rid­ing crashed into a tree in Pon­tard­du­lais on Thurs­day.

Pay­ing trib­ute, his fam­ily said he was “a fam­ily man who would do any­thing for any­one”.

“Well known within the com­mu­nity for his de­vo­tion to his fam­ily and friends, Craig en­joyed noth­ing more than go­ing for long walks or watch­ing the lat­est box­ing match.

“A de­voted fa­ther to Kai, fam­ily was a big part of Craig’s life. Craig was a lov­ing part­ner to El­lisa, son to Julie and Gareth, step­son to Al­lan, brother to An­thony and Jamie, un­cle to Kenzi-Jay, Ash­ton and Jen­son Lee, nephew to his aun­tie and un­cle. Craig was adored by his part­ner and of­ten re­ferred to El­lisa’s mother, Adele, as his mother-in-law.

“The fam­ily are devas- tated by his pass­ing. The mem­o­ries and good times they ex­pe­ri­enced with Craig will live on through them.”

South Wales Po­lice were called to the in­ci­dent on Wa­ter Street in Pon­tard­du­lais just af­ter 4.30pm on Thurs­day.

A force spokesman said at the time: “An of­froad mo­tor­cy­cle col­lided with a tree and the rider died as a re­sult of his in­juries.”

He con­firmed that noone else was in­volved in the in­ci­dent.

Of­fi­cers in­ves­ti­gat­ing the fa­tal crash are ap­peal­ing for any­one who may have seen the col­li­sion, or the man­ner in which the mo­tor­cy­cle was be­ing rid­den, to con­tact them by call­ing 101, quot­ing ref­er­ence 1900003302.
