Man arrested on suspicion of rape

A MAN has been arrested on suspicion of raping a woman at a Llanelli beauty spot.

The 24-year-old man was questioned and then released pending further investigat­ions after an allegation of rape at Sandy Water Park.

The incident was reported to DyfedPowys Police at around midnight in the early hours of Thursday.

Police are treating it as an isolated incident and have reassured the public that they are not looking for anyone else at this time.

A spokeswoma­n for the force said: “Dyfed-Powys Police is investigat­ing an allegation of rape at Sandy Water Park, Llanelli, which was reported to them at around midnight this morning (March 28).”

They confirmed a 24-year-old man had been arrested on suspicion of raping a woman.

“Police would like to reassure the public that they are treating this as an isolated incident and are not looking for anyone else at this time,” she added.

“Anyone who was in the area after 6pm last night (March 27) is urged to contact police by calling 101.”

Dyfed-Powys Police is appealing for anyone who was in the Sandy Water Park area after 6pm on Wednesday night to contact them on 101.
